Nissan Repair: xterra brake failure, brake failure, power brakes

Last week, while driving my '07 xterra I braked at a stop sign. Much to my horror the car suffered complete brake failure. Not only where the brakes absent, but the steering wheele was jerking for side to side. The following morning, the car was towed, to the nearest Nissan dealer. Nothing wrong could be found. Several different Nissian machanics took turns driving the car home,to see if any hint of this problem appeared. After a week, I had no choice but to pickup the car. I do not feel comfortable driving this car again. Any ideas?

If the Xterra died there would be no power brakes and that would lead you to think there were no brakes.  I say this because you added the part about the steering doing the jerking thing.  I would start the car and do a brake check with the mechanic or service writer to make sure they understood what you were describing to them.  My bet is the car stalled out and with no vacuum there were no brakes and the steering was doing strange things.
