Nissan Repair: 95 Maxima hesitating/ stalling, crank angle sensor, volt ohm meter

Question
Got an intermittent problem.Car will buck , other times try to stall. Warmed up or cold, after turns or straight, accelerating or cruising, any gear. Can go a whole day without a problem. No problem starting if it does stall out. Replaced plugs and fuel filter. Cleaned the PCV valve. Checked the Power steering switch. Cleaned the MAS sensor. Dealer said that no falt codes show up. Never had a "check eng" lite. Have gone through three (3) cans of injector cleaner and two(2) cans of dry gas. One thing I have noticed, when I turn the key to start, the warning lites all come on, as they should, but car doesn't turn over unless I just hold it for couple of seconds longer. The car starts easy. Problem seems to be gone, for awhile. The AIR BAG lite seems to stay on for a few seconds afer start up. This is a 5 speed. 196,000mi. Love this car!

Answer
Bruce,

You could have a defective crank angle sensor or a defective throttle position switch that is intermittent.  THe airbag light is normal given the years.  The computer has to address each to make sure it is there and then the light will go out.  The start thing sounds like the relay is getting old and the contacts take a while to make connection.  Get a Haynes manual an a digital volt/ohm meter and use the values in the book to check the components I discussed above.
