Nissan Repair: Alternator, crank angle sensor, nissan maxima

Question
After putting in a new alternator and replacing one ing. coil the car is running badly.
One mechanic said it was the crank angle sensor but after it was replaced the steering wheel still shakes.
Now the latest mechanic to look at the car says that the computer needs to be replaced and reprogramed.

Can putting in an alternator, to a 2000 Nissan Maxima, in any possibly way damage the computer that runs the engine?

Thank you for your patience.
Jim

Answer
Jim,

Jim,

If the engine vibrates at idle and not all of the coils were replaced I would do so.  I have a 2000 Maxima and the coils had a service bulletin on them.  I replaced mine and the shake went away...  The computer should not need to be programmed or replaced unless there is a code that states it and the test verifies it.  Get another mechanic and soon.  You could replace the coils yourself as they are easy to do and courtesynissan.com is a good source of parts at like half the price of the dealership.
