Nissan Repair: 88 pathfinder transmission, valve body, pathfinder

no 2nd or od. it will start in 1st sometimes but sometimes you have to manualy put it in 1st. then it still skips 2nd and doesnt shift until 3000 rpm. once in 3rd you can shift to 2nd or take off od by button and feel it downshift. i have a 89 if parts will swap to try.  also  only code is 55.

Sounds like the valve body is gummed up along with the governor.  Yes, if the transmission is the same type like 4X4 or 2X4 it will fit and that would be your best option.  The code 55 is just letting you know that the computer is not picking up any errors.  So, no sensors are involved.
