Nissan Repair: 99 Altima speedo, nissan altima, wrecking yard

Question
I have a 1999 Nissan Altima and the odometer quit working. If I replace the entire instrument cluster with a used part does the computer have to be reset to make it work?

Answer
Gary,

If you replace the cluster and have over 100K miles there is no problem getting one from the wrecking yard and installing it.  If you plan to resell the vehicle and it has under 100K you should get it set by a shop to reflect the actual miles.  Otherwise, just replace and go.
