Question
My daughter's car has a clutch problem. The pedal goes to the floor and stays there. I can pull it back up, but once it's depressed again it stays down. What's the most obvious problem? Is there a spring that returns it to the up position? A cable?

Answer
Kurt,

Replace the clutch master and slave cylinder and bleed the system with Ford High Performance Brake Fluid.  You do not have to use this brake fluid but it makes the clutch pedal feel much more firm.  The pressure from the system should return the pedal to the top and since it is not returning to the top is the reason I say the components need replacement.  If you do them together you save yourself the hassle of doing one and a month later doing the other.  They seem to wear together so replace them as a set...
