Nissan Repair: 1996 Nissan Pickup - 2.4L, fuel pressure regulator, leaky injector

Question
My truck starts fine but starts missing even when idling. I have changed the plugs, wires, distributor and checked the timing. There is a rich smell of gasoline from the exhaust and there seems to be a higher than normal discharge of gasses from the exhaust. The problem seems to get better as the engine warms up.Any suggestions would be welcome.

Answer
Don,

Either the fuel pressure regulator is gone and letting too much pressure go against the injectors at idle or you have a leaky injector or more.  check the fuel pressure first and then ohms check the injectors.  An easy way to check the injectors is to pull the plugs.  Really black plugs man a leaky injector.  Change the injectors where the plugs came from and you should be fine.  I love to go to the wrecking yard and purchase a complete set from a wreck and then switch them out.  You save money this way but you might get another bad injector so you have to spend a little more time getting all the good ones in the car.
