what computer the ecm? i mean is the code found with the obd 2 trouble code or a separete computer only for the air bag cause i own a obd 2 trouble code finder but my engine light isnt on  but the the air bag flashing does the car need some time to fine the trouble code cause the battery was off for more then 24 hours.

i have a 1996 nissan altima gxe it was bottomed out  and a big surge of electricity blu the 75 watt fuse link i think thats all it did i put the new trans in and it runs perfect replace fuse link now everything electrical works but the airbag light flashes i took the negative wire off for 24 hours still it stays on for like 7 seconds then stays flashing

You will have to take it in to get the code read and reset.  That is the only way.  When the light flashes it tells you that something is wrong with the airbag system and the computer has turned it off to protect you.

Liability comes into play.  Unless you drop something like $2 grand on a scanner it will not have the air bag feature so you cannot read or turn off the airbag  codes.  Dealer only unless a speciality shop has an expensive scanner.  Also, the high dollar scanners do the ABS codes too.
