Nissan Repair: heater, blower motor, pathfinder

Hello,

Yesterday I was out driving my 1990 pathfinder around when a loud rattle sounded off.  I pulled over, and shut of my heater and it stopped.  I turned my heater back on and it started again.  Is it my heater, or my radiator or both?  Also, should I stop driving until I get them fixed - i.e. am I in danger of blowing my transmission?  Thank you very much.

If the noise is present only when the heater is on I would think the blower motor is going out.  No, it would not hurt to drive it and your transmission would be fine.  I would get the blower checked since the defrost will not work without the blower.  So, check it out as a blower is under $100 for the part.  Pretty easy to install too.
