How do I change out the alternator on a 1991 Nissan 240sx.

Disconnect the negative battery cable first.  There are three bolts you have to deal with.  The big one that pivots the alternator and the one that locks it down need to be loosened first.  Then the long bolt that tightens the belt needs to be turned counter-clocksiwe until the belt is loose enough to get over the pulley.  Then take the other bolts out and the alternator is ready to remove.  Then, take the wires loose and install the new alternator.
