Nissan Repair: 97 Nissan Pickup all 4 wheels locking up, nissan pickup, four wheels

Question
I just put in a new clutch and all hydrolics and while it was sitting waiting for those repairs it developed a brake problem.  The brake is real stiff and after driving a mile or so all four wheels will start to lock up until the vehicle no longer moves.  After it sits for about an hour the wheels will start to free up.

What can I do to fix this problem?  We are baffled.

Answer
Chris,

It sounds like the pushrod in the back of the master cylinder is too tight.  When you drive the brakes are partially working causing heat and then they lock up.  If the pedal is in proper adjustment you will have to take the master cylinder off to get access to the pushrod and shorten it.  There is an asjustment on the end that screws in.  Do a turn at a time and drive it each time until the brakes stop locking up.  Do it too much and you will not have brakes so only a turn and then put it back together and drive it and continue until you get the desired result.
