Nissan Repair: timing marks 1997 nissan Serena 2.3 diesel, nissan serena, pulley

My engine slipped when changing the water pump on my 1997 Nissan Serena 2.3lt diesel can you please tell me how to set the timing back up

Gary,

You are going to need to purchase a book to show the marks as it is difficult to describe on-line.  If you want to save money go to the local library and check out a book or just copy the page that shows the marks.  Basically, you line up all the pulley marks with the associated marks.  Then, if you bought a Nissan belt you line up all the white lines.  But, this does not give all the detail you need so that is why I say get the book with the diagram and pictures.  Also, if you are changing the belt be sure to check the idler tensioner pulley to make sure it is not going out.  Nothing more annoying than to have to take the thing back apart due to a noisey idler tensioner pulley.
