Nissan Repair: Turning Signal Problem for 98 Nissan Maxima GXE, nissan maxima gxe, nissan maxima

Question
Thanks for you prompt responses as well as suggestions to my issue. In answer your last response the fuse burnt out for my directional after I had the combination column switch replaced at the dealership,  Immediately after the switch and the fuse were replaced the directionals worked for about an hour and then the fuse burnt out. The directionals were clicking when they worked. I'm bringing the car back to the dealership this morning

Answer
Larry,

You have an excess load on the circuit that is burning out the switch and fuse.  I would start at looking at the grounds that I discussed since you can see them without taking anything apart.  Second, I would disassemble all the turn signal lights.  Basically, take the covers off and look for corrosion in the sockets.  Lastly, change the flasher and the bulbs if you find nothing with corrosion or the grounds.  You should be fine.  What is going on is a high resistance in the circuit that is causing the circuit to overload.  What we need to do is find out what is causing that condition.  The brake lights work?  They do not pop the fuse do they?
