Nissan Repair: Intermittent starting problem 93 Altima, nissan altima, clutch pedal

Question
Daughter just bought this used 93 Nissan Altima with manual trans. Problem is starting. Starts fine cold or warm, but problem is, if she stalls out, she has to turn key a few times to get it to restart. It clicks, clicks, then it will catch. Husband suspected starter and selnoid and changed them both. Problem still exists. He also check out the relays and switches, but they don't appear to be the problem. Car will start again, sometimes right away, other times takes maybe 4-5 tries. I know intermittent problems are the worse, but any suspects you may have would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Answer
Sue,

Check to make sure that the clutch switch is working properly.   This is the switch that keeps you from starting the car in gear.  Basically, you have to press the clutch pedal in when starting and then the car starts.  If this switch is out of adjustment or defective the car will do what you describe.  The switch is on the clutch pedal arm that is about half way up under the dash.  You can bridge the switch to see if this corrects the problem.
