Nissan Repair: rpms way too high, temperature guage, stop screw

Question
I have a 1985 sentra wagon   1.6 with a carbuerator.  The high idle will not disengage even though the car is hot and the temperature guage reads normal operating temperature. the rpms in park run about 2500 and in drive run approx 1500 or 45 miles per hour!!!   How can I correct this  Thanks   Bruce

Answer
Bruce,

There is an electronic power valve that is inside the carburetor and it needs to be replaced.  You take the top off the carburetor and the valve is inside.  It is the one with electrical wires coming off it.  Now,, that the has been replaced you can idle the carburetor down with the idle stop screw.  But, be sure that the choke pulloff is working properly as well.
