Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1999 olds intrique, auto zone, long trip

Question
when going on a long trip at i hr into the trip my check engine light goes on.it will sputter on and off not taking gas at accleration the rpms will flatten out and not shift untill i let off of the gas.and then the light goes off it will run better but still bogg at accleration.can you help me,LARRY

Sounds like a misfire to me.
My advice would be to take it to either a good nationwide parts store (Auto Zone, Advanced, etc..) and MOST have free scanning of codes. Some of the national chain repair facilities (Meineke, Midas, Pepboys etc..) do the same also. They could also give a quote on repairs also.]
