Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Check engine light., oxegen sensor, ford f150

Question
I have a 1996 Ford F150 and the check engine light has recently come on.  My research indicates that I can determine the trouble codes using a connection to the computer.  I have the method and the codes from a Chilton manual.  Unfortunately, Chilton just tells you how to make the check but gives no information as to the where the connector is located.  In addition the Chilton manual doesn't say what repairs are necessary to correct the codes.  Any advice would be appreciated.
