Pontiac Repair: speed sensor, 2005 pontiac aztek, pontiac aztek

i have a 2005 pontiac aztek. the speedometer stop working i been tould the is the speed control sensorthe it whent bad.but i dnt really know cuz the truck shift right and ican find where the sensor is located on the trans...i been toul its on the outside behind the trans.

If the cruise control works and it shifts correctly then chances are it's just the speedo/cluster assembly. The speedo's are not repairable at the dealership we get exchange units from a rebuilder. If you go the route of a junk yard you need to find one from the same year as yours and one with the same gauge package. I belive the milage is stored into the cluster so you need to find one that is around the same m,ilage as what you have. In some states speedo clusters are not allowed for resale. You can do a google search to find a repair kit or a rebuilder if you don't want to go the dealership route. good luck :-}
