1997 pontiac transport, transmision slips sometimes, fluid level ok. what can make transmission slip? Also can a dirty filter cause this problem?

if it's slipping it's on it's way out. there are no adjustments. If the filter is plugged there are more issues then just the filter being plugged. the trnamissions are throw aways once they start to slip it's only a matter of time before they loose a gear or multiple gears. there is no way around it it's going to have to be take out and disassembled to see what failed. The only thing on these things that is really fixable is a hard firm shift when hot usually the pressure control module goes bad on them That will not cuase a slip issue. good luck :-}
