Pontiac Repair: car remote, pontiac grand prix, power spike

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix and the remote is not working at all even after replacing the battery . It was working fine till i had to give my car a jump because the battery had drained . So can you help me figure this problem out

do both remotes not work?
if it just one thatdoesn't work try pushing the lock and unlock at the same time while standing by the car hold the buttons for 15 seconds and then release them and see if it the works. It may need to be re synced to the car. if it still doesn't work either the keyless receiver went bad or the body control module went bad from a power spike when you jump started the car. one last ditch thing to try is disconnect the battery let the car sit for 5 minutes re hook up the battery and see if it works then.
