the car doesnt leak gas but i drive and i can literally watch my needle move, what would cause it to consume so much fuel when the car runs excellant

does it actaully use that much fuel of does the gauge just act funny and erratic? that is more of a factor then anything else. The level sensor in the gas tank goes bad on those cars all the time and cuased the gauge to act up. As far as actaully using too much fuel if that were the case the service engine soon lamp would come on due to the fuel mixture being too far off. have the car scanned for codes at one of the big box auto parts stores and see if any codes are stored that would leave a clue to what may be wrong.
