Pontiac Repair: electrical problem?, rain fall, dash lights

Question
I have a 2006 g6.  Once and a while while driving, all the dash lights will come on, read error, and gauges will go to 0.  Quite often the car will sputter and stall.  It then will start up again and work fine.  I took it in last october and they tightened all the grounds on the modules and it worked well since then until the other day it started again.  Do you think this is something serious or possibly something just loose?

Answer
Hi Carla:

does this car have a sun roof? does it happen after a rain fall? If so it may have a water leak cauing your issue. If not you have either one of the control modules going down or the data line between all the on board modules is rubbing gains somethin metal and shorting the data line out. The fact that the IPC reads error is a clue that the IPC is not receiving the data it needs and that is why all the gauges drop out.
I would stop by one of the big box auot parts stores and have the car scanned for codes. write down all the codes that are in all of the modules. If your lucky all of the modules by maybe one will have codes in it. If there is just 1 module with out codes in it that would indicate that maybe that is the culprit. That is if your lucky. Usually it's not that easy.
Good luck :-}
