Pontiac Repair: 1995 Grand Prix Start/stall issue, power steering pump, fuel rail

Question
I have a '95 Grand Prix SE with a 3.1 engine. It became a little hard to start a few days ago, and now it will fire and if you pump the accelerator as fast as possible you can keep it running, albeit on maybe one or two cylinder. After about 5-10 mins. it will run fairly well, but it won't idle until about 5 or 10 mins more. The SES light comes on. Is there a way to check the codes with a jumper, since it has no "B"terminal? Any ideas on what is causing this problem? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi rick:
you can't flash out the codes on that car I belive it has the new tryle obd2 connector on that year car so flash codes are not an option. I would look at a fule pump/pressure issue first off if the pressure and or volume is to low it will not run and lack power like you stated. If it has anything less then 40 PSI it will run bad that needs around 44 psi running. chnaces are the fuel filter is plugged and the pump worked it's self to death. There is a pressure tap on the fuel rail right behind the power steering pump resivoir. check the pressure at the tap there and see what you have and go from there. If it has pressure then the next thing to do it to check for spark on all 3 coils and all 6 wires. Good luck :)
