Pontiac Repair: HELP 2001 Bonneville SSEI Tranny Issue, bonneville ssei, electrical plugs

I stopped at a red light and when I pulled through the light I went through a puddle of water at about 20 MPH and when I got through the puddle the car started to studder pretty bad for about 5-10 seconds then it drove fine. When I pulled up to the next light it was about 3 miles farther. When I went to go the car would barely go I had to push the very light then I got it going about 5 MPH through a parking lot and when I pulled into a parking spot and stopped my tranny was gone there was nothing So I checked all the fluids they were all perfect not burnt or nothing. So I got it towed home and my friend came over to look I checked all electrical plugs all fine. When you start it it runs fine But all gears are like nuetral. So my buddy checked the fluid while it was running and it wasnt foamy and the level didnt change when it was put into gear. Please help Any Ideas if you can email me at  I will also check back here but I am not sure where to find what your response was. Do you think I sheared off my Tranny pump Shaft, Hope not. I hope it is something stupid as this car is a beauty

Hi Randy:

I'm not a transmission man by any means as my siganture shows but try this unplug the electrical connetor going to the tranmission on the front of the tranmission and then start the car and put it in gear and see if it moves. If it does the planetary gear set in the bottom of the trnamission broke if it's doesn't move then it could be a pump issue but But that is VERY rare on these transmissions. reguardless it's going to have to be diagnosed correctly and it's going to have to come out of the car to see what broke. good luck :)
