Pontiac Repair: 1993 pontiac transport 3.8 v6, crankshaft position sensor, spark plug wires

Question
i have a 1993 pontiac transport that just stops running for no apparent reason. it has a new battery, starter, alternator, fuel pump, and fuel filter. sometimes it will start right back up, yet, other times you must wait until it completely cools. all relays appear to work fine and all fuses check out. any ideas as to what could be the cause? fyi no sputtering, just dies.

Answer
Hi James:

well yout going to have to see what's missing when it will not run. My guess here is it's loosing spark and injector pulse. you need a spark checker and when it does die you need to see if it looses spark on all 6 cyliners.ou install a spark checker on the spark plug wires at the ignition coils and crank the van over and see if it has spark or not. If not then you need to see if it has injector pulse you need a noid light for that you unplug each injector and plug the lamp in in place of an injector and same thing crank the van over and see if the light lights if not no injector pulse. If you are lacking both things My guess is either an crankshaft position sensor is bad or an ignition module is bad. Both parts will basically case the same issue. Good luck :)
