Pontiac Repair: 99 Pontiac Transport Overhead DIC Problem, autowrecker, pontiac transport

Hi,

My dic was randomly going on and off, but never lost the info, then it went dim, then it stopped working all together. I've tried 5 different dic's from the autowrecker and while they all light up and show each mode when pressing the button, none of them display any info for the mode displayed? Does the DIC have to be reset? Any ideas would be greatly welcomed!

those systems are touchey in those old vans. #1 there was 2 different systtems for them a basic DIC and then the enhanced DIC and each year was a bit different. So to start off you need the EXACT same part # as the origianl unit that was in your van. so you need to find another 99 Pontiac with the same DIC option. and start there. A 98 or 2000 may not work. start there. Then if that doesn't work there may be some sort of a wiring issue with the data line from the engine control computer to the DIC that is waht gives the DIC the info for MPG/Avg. speed Instant economy etc.. You may have a bad pin fit on one of the terminals in the connector for the dic.. That is where I would start looking.
