Pontiac Repair: 2004 sunfire 2.2 4 doors automatic, body control module, dome lamp

when I turn off and remove the key the radio stay on and drain my battery . I have to remove the radio fuse and I just want to know if there's something I can do to resolve the problem. Thanks

Hi Allen:

I think you have an issue with a door jam swithc on this car. when you open the drivers door does the dome lamp come on? My guess is no. and in that case it would indicate that the door jam swithc is bad or corroded up for the drivers door. when you turn the key off the accessory power remains on for up to 10 minutes or untill thye drivers door is opned. if the body control computer doesn't see that the door is open it will not shut off the asseccory power.. if the accessory power runs for more then 10 minutes you have some kind of a body control module problem.. If it only runs for 10 minuytes and shuts off it's working correctly and if it runs for only 10 minutes and kills the battery the battery is weak and needs to be replaced. The abttery should be able to keep the radio on for 10 minutes without draining it.. Good luck :)
