Pontiac Repair: abs brakes 2002 grand prix, rear caliper, abs brakes

QUESTION: my brakes lock up after a short time driving no abs fault lite comes on

ANSWER: Hi tom:

what do you mean? do they lock up to the point where the car will not move and the abs system engauges? Or do the brakes start grabbing? If you give me a little more info I may be able to point you in the right direction. has any base brake system work been done recently?

I would look at a few things, Rotor condiiton they should be shiney and clean looking if they are rusted and rotted looking where the pads ride that would be one thing. If the car has aftermarket brake pads on it that could be an issue. Another thing is these cars were noted for the rear caliper sliders seizing up and the calipers do not work properly and your doing all the stopping with the front brakes thus the grabbing sensation you get.. that Is where i would start looking.
