Pontiac Repair: the Pontiav trunk got locked, latch assembly, screw driver

Question
hey whats up names Nathan i have a 1996 grand am, and some how the inside on the car trunk got locked from the inside and both of are keys we have dont seem to do any good, its seems like one of us hit the lock so that inside the car the lever to open the car got triped and its refusing to open how can get that open?

Answer
Hi Nathan:

will in order to open it you have to gain access to the trunk. to do this you have to take out the back seat to be able to see into the trunk. after you do that you need a lonf flat bladed screw driver and a long arm to insert the blade of the screw driver into the latch assembly and turn it to open the trunk. ther is a square hole in the tlatch that the lock cylinder goes into to turn the latch to open the trunk. That is the only way to get it open if the lock cylinder is seized up and will not turn, The only other way would be to take it to a lock smith and see if they can get the lock to turn and open. good luck :)
