Pontiac Repair: shuttering transmission, torque converter clutch, clutch plates

i have a 2002 gran prix se  once it gets to 2000 rpm or shifting past second or third gear it starts to shutter   what can it be

Hi Joe:

It could be a few things. It could have a bad pressure control solenoid or valve in in valve body. You could have an issue with the direct clutch plates. there could be a issue withe the torque converter clutch where it's slipping/chattering. The transmission could be low on fluid. with out a engine scan tool and a pressure gauge to see what's going on inside the transmission it's really hard to tell you what the problem may be But it's gotta be one of the things I mentioned.
