Pontiac Repair: Low Cooling Fluid Indicator, pontiac sunfire gt, pontiac sunfire

Question
Todd,
1998 Pontiac Sunfire GT with 2.4 liter / 95,000 miles.  Dash indicator light is constantly on for low cooling level in expansion/overflow chamber. How do I determine what is the problem component? Level in chamber is okay. Sensor, float, wiring or what? Tests I can preform to find the issue? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Jeff

Answer
Hey Jeff:

the level sensor in the bottle is bad you need to get a new overflow/surge tank to replace it. if the level is full then you can tap on the side of the bottle with a small screwdriver and sometimes it will free up the sensor but most times it needs a new one. There is really no test other than if you unplug it and the light goes out it's the sensor.

good luck :}
