Pontiac Repair: 1993 Pontiac Sunbird Water On Rear Passenger Floorboard, 1993 pontiac sunbird, pontiac sunbird

Question
Hello:  Every time it rains fairly heavily the rear passenger floorboard floods--standing water.  I've checked all the window and door moldings and have sealed them with clear RTV.  I'm baffled.  The driver's side rear floorboard gets wet too after a rain but not nearly so much. It's always the rear that's flooded.  Any thoughts or ideas?  Thanks. TG

Answer
Hi Tim:

Water leaks are really hard to find! how about the trunk is that wet also? If so it could be a trunk weather strip leaking and the water running into the rear compartment floor. The rear window could be leaking. Are you sure it's not leaking in the front and whil you drive the water just rushes to the rear of the car because the rear sits a bit lower then the front so it follows garvityto the back. I have seen a lot of them leak like that. On those cars the cowl rots out and the water runs in like a river. The cowl is the area below the windshiled where the wipers are. If your reall ambitious take out the carpet to let it dry out and then walk around the car with a garden hose and see where it's comming in from. With teh carpet out at least you can see were the water is comming in from anf pooling in the rear. good luck :}
