Pontiac Repair: 98 GTP, maf sensor, computer plug

Question
Bought new, when 3 years old the srs light would come on in hot weather, be
normal in winter. Now its on all the time. On another, unrelated matter the MIL
is setting a P0107, I've removed the MAF and sprayed it with CRC MAF sensor
cleaner but that had no effect. Any way to check that inputs/outputs with a
cheap volt/ohm/milliammeter? THX and Happy New Year

Answer
Hi John:
The srs lamps could be a lot of things but on those older ones we used to have an issue with the harness going to the passenger air bag in the dash the connector would make bad contact with the bag and the light would come on.  The air bag system is NOTHING you want to paly with get that fixed by a trained technician! As for the MIL a p0170 is for the MAP sensor not the MAF you could have an issue with the sensore it's self. you can check that there are 3 wires going to that sensor it's in the front of the intake manifold on the very top. with the key on unplug it you should have 5 volts and a ground across 2 of the wire the 3'rd wire is the sensor return back to the computer plug it back in and back probe that the wire with one test lead and the other one on a good engine ground with the key on engine off you should have close to 5 volts. start the engine and it should be somewhere around 1.4 volts if not the sensor is bad. Good luck :}
