Pontiac Repair: my 1992 pontiac gram am wont start, bran new, gas in my car

Question
after i got my oil changed i was having problems my oil gage was reading empty. Than my car wasn't shifting i'd had to either press on the gas to get up to speed than at 40-45 my car would shake than i'd take my foot out the gas and put it back on it would shake but not bad. than my car wouldn't start i tried two times and it would start but today my car wouldn't start at ALL. My gas gage has been broken for years now but i just put gas in my car yesterday so i know i have gas and my battery is bran new. i just checked my oils thinking that is why but their all filled. what could it be? would it be expensive? i only have $200.00 left because all my money went into my car and i need my car to get me through the winter. PLEASE HELP i need to know what could be wrong with it. i have 128,000,000 miles on it and everything has been replaced.

Answer
Hi Alyson:

Wow this is all over the board but I bet your issues are interconnected. Umm as far as it not starting it cranks but will not start??? You could have an ignition problem with this car that it's only running on a few cylinders instead of all of them thus the shaking and when it's cold it need all of them firing to get started. It could be a fule pump problem. If there is no fuel pressure or not enough pressure it will not start and it will aldo cause the shaking issue because it doesn't have enoygh fuel to keep the engine running at higher engine sppeds. to check the fuel pump if it's running you need some one to turn the key to run while you listen for the "buzz or hum" from the pump when the key is on it will run for like 2 seconds hold you ear up to the fule filler pipe where you fill it up with gas. If you don't hear anything have that person crank the car over and see if you hear the noise. if nothing you found the issue. Now  heres the kicker with as many issue you have with this car do you really want to spend the $ on it? I know you need a car but at some time you have to cut your losses. from the sound of this the car is close to breathing it's last breaths.I like to try to let customers down easy when the car have a lot of miles on them and they are looking at high repair bills. Just keep that in the back of your mind.... Happy holidays :)
