Pontiac Repair: cooler fan, cooler fan, test light

Question
I HAVE A 1994 GRAND AM AND I DON'T THINK THE COOLER FAN IS WORKING HOW DO I CHECK TO SEE IF IT'S THE FAN OR A SENDING UNIT

Answer
you can take a test light and ground the sending unit if they come on than it is the sender.if they do not come on it may be a relay.if that doesnt fix it i would use a jumper to the fan to see if it works.if it does not work with a direct connection than the fan is at fault.i would check every thing else first fans are expensive and in most cases the fan was good and it was the relay or sending unit.
