Pontiac Repair: smell of gasoline, head gasket, vent line

Question
1995 Pontiac Grand Am.  of late there appears to be a smell of gasoline (quite often noticible in the morning in the parking lot.) Or, on occasion it is noticible inside the car but it seems to quickly dissipate. There doesn't seem to be any leakage.... I have been told it could be from head gasket but visual inspection (by an amateur... ME..does not seem to show anything.) I'd appreciate any information you might be able to provide...many thanks.....

Answer
Could just be a vent line off of the tank or a seal on the top of the tank. You may have a gas leak and not know it. If the leak is not very bad, the gas will usually dry up before it can drip onto the ground but it will leave stains on the bottom of the car that you can see and smell.
It is definately not a head gasket.
Take it to the shop and have it checked for leaks.
