Porsche Repair: 1972 porsche 914, vocational industrial clubs, fuel pump relay

Question
Ben, Our porsche is a 1972 914 instead of a 911.The car set up for years. All fuel lines were solid varness up to the fuel pump. We took the pump off, cleaned it up ,and hot wired it to test it. It works. We put it back on the car and it does not work.It still shows that both wires going to it are grounded. VICA is Vocational Industrial Clubs of America. We will show the car in Waco,Tx. on 3-05&06 at T.S.T.C.If it qualifies for state,we will show it at the Tarrant County Convention Center in FT. Worth 3-25-27. We sure would like to get it running before we paint it.Thanks again, GaryM.

Answer
Gary, nice to hear from you again.  Just to be sure we're on the same page , I'm Dave, not Ben.  Also, I assume you received my answer to your first question, but I can't tell from this latest communication exactly where we are.  I guess we're unexpectedly fortunate that the car is a 914 rather than a 911, since I only have a wiring diagram for the 914.

What I'm not clear on is whether you were able to confirm my information on the wiring at the pump and to the Regulator plate.  And were you able to identify a fuel pump relay?  And could you determine if the Black/Red wire is shorted to ground?  I'm happy to help but could you share some of your findings?

Thanks.

Dave
