Question
I have a excaliber 8500-II furnace in need of bearings in the motor. Is there a site that that I could get an exploded view and a wiring Diagram for this unit. Can't quite figure how to get the dc motor out. Thanx

Answer
Hi Richard
I don't know of a removal guide.
But if your brave enough..try this.
You will have to remove the DSI Board, gas valve, fan cover, gas line, combustion chamber fan, then the motor itself. They can all come out from the outside of the rig without removing the furnace "can".
The trick is how to do that.
The Board is held in with a wing nut and its wires.
Then the Gas line comes off. (turn off the gas first...you'll spend less time in the hospital.)
Then the burner assemble is held on with one wing nut and 3 1/4 hex head screws..way in the back.
Then the 4 screws to the fan cover (black plastic). Watch out for the sail switch, its a small switch on the back.
Then a set screw holds on the small fan on the right hand side, behind the squirrel cage are 3 hex screws that hold the motor to the case . You'll need a right angle screw driver for those.
Now the motor with the big an should come out.
That should be it. Then go backwards and your done. Ck your gas line for leaks before lightin her off. Use only approved LPG leak soap..no soap with ammonia.
Wouldn't blame you if you passed on doing it.
Be safe.
Don't want to read about you in the paper.
