RV Repair: Refrig wont run on gas, wasp nest, inch gap

Question
My Norcold 386 in my 1999 Coleman Popup does not work on gas. When I switched it over to AC it worked fine. I cleaned out the gas exchange area and I get a good flame. The flame will stay lite and when I check the refrig temp a day later it is room temperature. I mainly need my refrig to run on gas.

Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Bob. Your saying it works on 110 volt, but not on gas?? Are you sure it stays lit the whole time? If so, Then ck the flu tube. It should have a baffle. It looks like a twisted wind chime and hangs in from the top. If its rusted, damaged or missing. Replace it. Ck Flu tube for wasp nest or other obstructions. If all is OK on those things. Check for gaps bigger than a inch on the sides of refer and the top. If so. Stuff them with insulation and seal with foil tape. Make a baffle to mount on the inside of the refer compartment. Mount it above the access door and make it create a 1 inch gap from the refer coils to the wall. It should be the length of the whole refer. Good Luck.
