RV Repair: RV refrigerator, rv refrigerator, refrigerator section

Question
Today I switched to Gas and let it run for 12 hrs and it seemed to cool off the fridge section a smidge but still not enough fridge temp approx 65 degrees. On a RV forum another person said he had the same problem with this model and he shut it down for 24 hrs and it started working great again so that is what I am doing now. If you have any other suggestions though I would love to hear them.  Thanks

Question -
I have a Dometic 2 door refrigerator Model#RM2652 that always worked very well in the desert heat that I live in until today. Today the refrigerator section got warm while the freezer section is still working. There are no adjustments, all temps are factory set,
I tried defrosting the unit in case there was an ice buildup somewhere that I could not see. This did not seem to help. Can YOU?

Hi Loren,

I will do my best to assist you with this problem. First off are you running the refrigerator or gas or electricity? Have you tried switching to the opposite energy source from the one you normally operate the refrigerator on? If so what was the result?

Please advise me on this, then we will proceed.

Answer
Hi Loren:

I did not know you had been running it on electricity. Its generally better to run the refrigerator on lp gas. The reason for this is that the electric heating element produces less BTU's per hour, than that of the gas burner. Did you check to see if the condenser and absorber coils are free of obstruction. Feel the line near the bottom of the condenser where the ammonia vapors leaves the condenser, this line should not be very hot to the touch. The cooler this line is the better the refrigerator works. I realize you most likely do not have a small fan blowing upward across the condenser and absorber coils, towards the roof. This alone will enhance the cooling of the unit also.
I hope you get your refrigerator cooling better. Please let me know how you make out with you unit..
