RV Repair: Pop Up Trailer Ceiling Repair, pop up tent trailer, vinyl wallpaper

Question
I have a 1993 Skamper pop up tent trailer.  The roof vent leaked and damaged the roof and ceiling.  The ceiling looked like it was panelling, however, when I went to take it down, I found that it was some type of vinyl wallpaper over a thin layer of paperboard (or something) with foam above.  I have scraped out the water damaged paperboard, but now I need to know what I can put on the ceiling to cover the damage.  Is there something lightweight that I can either glue or staple to the existing ceiling?

Answer
Hi Merissa:
I am afraid that there is no set and easy solution for your problem. Whenever I have done this it has always been a different solution depending on what I have available. You can pretty much use anything you like to please yourself. Probably the best thing is to use some sort of fiberglass sheet and maybe some spray on foam sealer underneath to make up for any material you might have scraped out. Fiberglas sheeting takes paint very well and is strong and plyable. The other thing you could try is to contact customer service of the manufacturer for material to match although I have not often been succesfull with this approach Sorry this is all I have.
