RV Repair: RV Furnace wont light, pilot tube, carburater

Question
I have a 1977 vintage Coleman Model 4312 forced air LP furnace.  I can not get the pilot to light.  It worked about 4 years ago.  Can you provide any simple tests or suggestoins?  I have tried turning the thermostat off; turning the carburater off for five minutes; setting the toggle to "ON"; turning the red knob to pilot and pressing in; sparking with the ingniter and trying to light by inserting a lit butane lighter.  No luck.  Last time I lit it, I use the butane lighter to light the pilot.

Thanks

Answer
John,

It sounds like you aren't getting any gas through the gas valve.  This could be caused by no gas in the tanks, the tanks not turned on, defective LP regulator, blockage in the gas line to the furnace, defective gas valve, blockage in the pilot tube, or a plugged pilot orifice.  There should be 3 #'s or a letter and 3 #'s following the 4312 for the model number.  There is a very good possibility that the gas valve is no longer available for your furnace, so if it is the gas valve you may want to consider replacing the furnace, as all replacement parts for the Coleman furnace are becoming scarce.  I hope this helps.
