Saab Repair: replacing a starter, saab 9000, knowledgeable folks

good to meet another mil. per. im an et3 in norfolk.  my question is where exactly is the starter and will i need any special tools to replace my bad one?  i own an '88 saab 9000 s.
also, my ceiling lining is coming down.  how do i fix that?  any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Sean! Your starter is "accessible" from underneath, you will not like the lack of working space, but it should come out relatively easily with normal hand tools. My manual says to loosen the top of the "sway bar" which supports some upper part, the intake I beleive. There is a caution not to remove it, just loosen the top and relocate the bottom. Make sure the first thing you do is disconnect the battery.
I can't help you with the headliner, sorry.
