Saturn Repair: car will not start, starter test, test light

Question
I have a 92 SL 2. I have put a new starter , new alternator , and new battery in it in the last year. A few days ago it acted kind of sluggish at start up. Normally it fires right off. When I went to get in it this afternoon... nothing. It makes no sound at all when I turn the switch. My lights and radio work just fine. And they do not dim when I turn the switch.  Any ideas about where I might start to look? I am thinking maybe the switch inside the car?  HELP

Answer
Claudia,
The only way you can know for sure is to test the starter.  You can do this yourself with nothing more than a test light and maybe a vehicle jack.  Given that you have good battery voltage and connection to the starter, I don't think your ignition switch is bad. I have never replaced an ignition switch in a Saturn S-series for a no-start condition.  To test the starter (test for start signal), all you need to do is connect your test light to a good ground source (bare metal under the car), have someone turn the ignition to start while you probe the solenoid (the small wire connected to the top of the starter.  If you get good signal that means your starter is bad.  If you get no signal, your problem is most likely in the ignition switch.  Like I said earlier, I have never replaced an ignition switch for this problem.  It's not impossible, just unlikely.  Hope this helps!
