Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 5.0 carburetor setting, briggs and stratton, hex head

I need to set my carburetor on my 5.0 push mower. There is
one screw in the carb itself (flat head_ and the one above
requires a hex head wrench. The mower will start but stops quickly and it back fires slightly.

The symptom you describe is usually a tell tale sign of a dirty carburetor.  Most of the time you have to clean the carb as an adjustment usually will not solve the problem.
