Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kohler Briggs swap, craftsman lt1000, craftsman designs

Question
I have a Craftsman LT1000 with a cv490s 27508, serial#3217206273 Kohler 17hp engine. I would like to put the Kohler into my craftsman dyt4000 to replace the blown Briggs 18.5 AVS 31p7770348E1 engine.  At a quick glance I see a 6 prong connector on both tractors that looks similar.  I'm just not sure if the wiring is the same, I don't want to plug it in and fry something.  Also the dyt4000 has an electric pto and a fuel pump.  The fuel pump might run on vaccum, I don't see any wires leading from it. I'm hoping Craftsman designs their tractors so that they will accept Kohler or Briggs engines without much modification. Any help will be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Answer
The fuel pump is vacuum operated on the Briggs engine.

The Briggs link below has good info on electrical systems:

The main challenge with switching engines is wiring the charging system.  Take a look at both websites and determine which system you have on each engine.  Let me know what you have and if you have any questions on wiring the system.
