Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Riding lawn mower wiring, engine numbers, bettery

Hi i just baught me a lawnmower it's a rider with a b&s motor it's got a 12hp I/C i dont know what model cause i dont know where it would e cause if its on the carb im kinda s.o.l. if ya know what i meen. but either way i can hook up a bettery to the starter and it turns the motor but when I hook it up to the actual cables i get nothing i am just wonering how to wire it this way i can cut out anything that isnt needed if you got a diagram that works to i just need some help.

First of all, there are a whole bunch of ridding mowers out there. Each one will be partial to its wiring schematic. You will need to go the dealer with your unit and engine numbers to see if they can help get the right wiring diagram.
Unit numbers are mostly under the seat.
Engine numbers will be either on the metal shroud, or on the valve cover.
