Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): gas in oil chamber, oil drain plug, oil chamber

Question
My son is turning into a man.  And what do we do?  We try to do things on our own.  Who needs instructions?  Anyway, he couldn't get the mower started, so it obviously needed gas.  But he poured gas into the oil receptacle.  My question is how to get all of it out?  I've got a Troy Bilt Model 860.  Doesn't tell me how to change the oil, so I just tried to drain everything by turning it upside down.  (Yes, I collected all the drippings.)  Is there a drain plug I'm not seeing?  I'll be getting a new air filter (it's due) and I have the spark plug out.  Just trying to let air get in the motor to allow the gas to evaporate as much as it will.  Any help you can provide would be appreciated.  As you can tell, my son gets his "diy" ability honestly from his ol' man.  Ha!

Answer
IT sounds as if you are on the right track. Fill the engine with fresh oil and run it for a little while, about 5 minutes, then change the oil again. There are a lot of units out there these days that the oil drain plug is covered by belts of other things that you can't see or get to it. It isn't going to hurt anything to repeat the process how you drained the oil the first time.
