Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman lawn mower 6.0 Briggs & Stratton, craftsman lawn mower, briggs stratton

Question
QUESTION: This is an add on to a question. After redoing the carb, checking the safety cable, replacing the spark plug, and changing the coil it still won't start. What is left?

ANSWER: Do you have spark?  Is the spark plug wet with fuel?  Will the mower start if you spray starting fluid directly into the carburetor?  Is the flywheel key sheared?

Please send engine model, typ and code number so I can look up your engine, carb and valve clearances.

QUESTION: It will start if I spray starting fluid into the carburetor. It is a Briggs & Sratton 122K02 0577E1 04082360.

Answer
Since it starts with starting fluid the ignition system, compression, and mechanical timing and compression are probably fine.

Something is wrong with the carb.  It is not delivering fuel to the engine.

Is the hole in the float bowl nut clean?  Will the engine start if you push the primer bulb about 5 times?  Will the engine continue to run while pushing the primer bulb?  If so, then you know the carb is the problem.
