Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): engine problem, briggs stratton, throttle control

Question
I have an old mclane with briggs/stratton 3.5 engine, replaced throttle spring but throttle still not opening when I push lever to increase power. seems like Im missing something. I see two springs one connected to govenor and one to throttle and loopd linkage.

Answer
Hi Russ
On that engine, there should be one spring that attaches from the throttle control to the looped linkage. The linkage should attach from the governor to the throttle. Also make sure that the governor and throttle move freely. Hope this helps.
